Student Writes Hilarious and Honest Homework Excuse Letter

We’re all familiar with the old adage, “The dog ate my homework”, but Eddie Cortez is taking homework excuses to a creative new level. Eddie didn’t turn his homework in, so his teacher asked him to write a paper as to why.

His cousin shared Eddie’s response on Twitter, where it went viral with over 313,000 likes and 86,000 shares.

Here is Eddie’s very honest letter to his teacher…

“I didn’t do my homework because I don’t want to do school work over the weekend because it is a stress free time to go out with friends, watch TV, and play games.”

I mean, the kid’s not wrong here…I totally agree with this.

Eddie then goes on to write what I think is the funniest line of the paper, “Plus my mom has been finding grey hairs not trying to stress out”. As a mom of three, I can tell you that I probably have more than a few grey hairs from dealing with my kids and their homework, so I appreciate Eddie’s concern for his mother and her grey hairs LOL.

He continues with, “The real world jobs don’t give you homework unless you’re a boss or teacher.” (Ok, Eddie has a little bit to learn on this one).

And finally, he concludes his argument: “Homework is not a real thing in the real world so we should not have to do it in school because its not useful. Case closed. The court rule in favor of Edward Immanuel Corez in the case of Student v. Homework.”

Hmm…I’m thinking law school may be in this kid’s future, in which case, he will be doing LOTS of homework!

Twitter users had a lot to say about Eddie’s note:
