Took the kids to see my dad at the care home and a lady started yelling. 5 asked why and the carer said she had a bad dream. 5 took her hand and said “I have sweet dreams in my hand for the next time you sleep”. The lady smiled then drifted back to sleep, still holding his hand

my 11 year old has become too cool to say he loves us but today we were watching a video of how a young man gave his life saving his mom and without skipping a beat this kid turns to me and says

My husband makes my tea every morning. It's nothing fancy. Nothing big. Well, he's out of town this week. There's nobody to make my tea. As I walked into the kitchen, I saw my son already making my tea. He smiled, "I'll make it for you while dad is gone." The little things matter

Does anyone else keep voicemails? I have so many I can’t delete. My favorite is my son in 2016 telling me in the sweetest little boy voice that he took a Lunchable out of the fridge and ate it even though it wasn’t lunch time. It may be the best voicemail I have ever heard.

Today I’m chaperoning my 8y/o’s trip and I asked him if he wanted me to sit near or far from him.
— Satirical Mommy (@SatiricalMommy) March 18, 2024
He responded with “why would I ever want to sit far away from you?”
I didn’t have the heart to tell him what I know is inevitable, and I’m going to ride this high for a while.

My 5yo used to send me to bed with one of his stuffed animals every night, and in the morning, he'd check on me to make sure the stuffy and I slept well. It's little things like this that make all the hard parts of parenting worth it.

I was doing a puzzle with my 3 year old and entirely unprompted she put her hand on my knee and said “you’re a good mommy” while nodding encouragingly and tbh I was not prepared to process that

So today I gave my 4yo a screwdriver as we repaired some boards
His siblings wanted to play, but he said “No, I’m helping Daddy”
My dad passed soon after he spoke those words
But in one tiny helper, he lives on

My 6yo asked me what a therapist is. I told her that it's someone you talk to about your feelings, and they help you understand them. My 6yo with the most sincerity, "oh, so like a mom." Yep.

We visited my dad at the care home and my 5yo asked one of the residents her name. She said she didn’t know so he said “I’ll call you Stella, I like that name and you can be my best friend”. 5 carried on chatting and his new best friend didn’t stop smiling

I’ve been a family law attorney for 18 years and I have never made it through an adoption hearing without crying. Today was no exception. The little girl who was adopted said, “Thanks for doing all this for me.” Oh my heart.

During my son’s first sports camp, I watched him be one of the last kids to run to the other side of the field.
— Satirical Mommy (@SatiricalMommy) July 13, 2021
Knowing he can run fast, I asked him about it later. He said he didn’t want the slow kids to feel sad being left behind.
Raise the nice kid.

13 asked me last night when he and I can go out and do something together. It's caught me off guard because he hasn't asked for that in a while. I said "absolutely lets plan something!". To which he replied "good. i need some Dad and son time." teenagers aren't jerks all the…

Today I waited on three 10 year old boys. They orders three virgin pina coladas and when I asked if they wanted food they told me “nah it’s just a chips and drinks kind of day” then they tipped me $11 on top of their $11 check.

My kid is gaming with friends so I brought him a snack and he says, "Thanks, Love you" then laughter erupts on the headset and he goes, "What? You don't love your mothers? I'm sad for you." so if you need me I'll just be over here sobbing into my worlds best mom ribbon.
