If you’ve been following me for a while you know I love to share good news, especially when it involves kids. And this story right here just warmed my heart.
Brian DeLallo, a football coach at Bethel Park High School in Pennsylvania, made headlines recently for canceling the team’s weightlifting workout in favor of having the boys shovel driveways for neighbors in need.
Coach DeLallo tweeted to his players that Monday’s workout would not be in the gym, but rather, outdoors…
People responded on the school district’s Facebook page with comments of appreciation:
“Thank you to the two nice young men that literally shoveled my driveway and sidewalk in minutes!!” and
“You are setting the best example for our young men.”
According to news reports, replacing workouts with snow shoveling is not new to the Bethel Park football team. In fact, it’s been going on for decades, started by a coach preceding DeLallo…
Messages of support on Twitter poured in from all over…
Coach DeLallo and a few members of the football team share their thoughts here…
Kudos to the coach for carrying on this noteworthy tradition, and also to the boys who participated!
